First Doctor's Appointment

Well, it's official....there's a baby in my belly!! I am 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant (give/take 3 days) and due on SEPTEMBER 9, 2008.

I had my first doctor's appointment today and I was really ready for a doctor to tell me i'm pregnant and not just an at-home pregnancy test. My appointment was at 1:15PM with Dr. Joel Hall. I worked until 11:30 and went to the hospital to have lunch with Benjamin before my appointment. At around 1:00 Ben and I walked across the skywalk to the doctor's office, signed in and waited abo
ut 5 minutes before the nurse called me back. The first thing she did was an ultrasound. She found a little blob of tissue with a heartbeat. She said the baby is about .5cm, about the size of a grain of rice. WOW, that's LITTLE!!! =) After she looked around with the machine for a few minutes, she went to the waiting room and called Ben back to see the ultrasound and the heartbeat. The heartbeat was the NEATEST thing!! It was so TINY!! It is such an amazing feeling knowing that there is living, human being in my belly (even though it's the size of a grain of rice).

The worst part of the visit was waiting to see the doctor. So, Ben & I went back to the waiting room for about another hour waiting to see the doctor. Around 2:45 the nurse came out and said that Dr. Hall was in surgery and we would be seeing the Nurse Practicioner, Melanie. She asked a few questions and we were finished. Very sweet & simple.

My next doctor's appoin
tment is February 13th at 3:15PM. They scheduled another ultrasound, a pap and all the blood work. From now on I will go to the doctor once a month until July then will go every 2 weeks.

Wish "us" luck and k
eep praying!! =)

Hey Rachel! That's amazing now you have a "target" date! Enjoy those long doctor's visits. I can't wait to see how things progress and of course the expanding belly (it's always sweet to see someone else get that baby belly). You will love it!! It's amazing to see how your body changes and grows with the little miracle of life inside you. How are you feeling? Love you darling!

Wasn't hearing that tiny little heartbeat the most amazing thing in the world! I remember at 8 weeks when I first heard Evelyn's heartbeat I went from a sane normal woman to a tear soaked emotional momma in about three seconds! I cried sooo much, it was the most beautiful sound I'd ever heard! That was probably the coolest part of my whole life at the time! Well, take care of that grain of rice!!! :)
