How we told our parents...

We told our parents the good news on Thursday, December 27, 2007. Since it was so close to Christmas we decided to wrap up bibs that say "I LOVE GRANDMA" & "I LOVE GRANDPA" along with a poem I found on the internet. We went to each of their houses and told the parents that we forgot to give them one of their Christmas presents on Christmas Day. Neither parents expected what was about to happen. Both Ben's parents and my parents were very excited and wanted to call everyone they knew that night. Here is the poem we framed for them:

I do not have a face to see, Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheecks to kiss, I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands, Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song, Or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come August, That's when the say i'm due.
I'm your new grandchild, I can't wait till I meet you.
All I ask between now and then, Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait, Because of all the love we know.
So what I have to give you now, is a wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part of this wonderful family.

Our story begins...

Our story begins the day after Christmas: Wednesday, December 26, 2007. I realized I was 6 days late on Christmas day, but didn't want to say anything to Ben because I wanted it to be a surprise if indeed we were pregnant. Like any other day Ben was out the door at 7AM on his way to work and little did he know I was right on his heels out the driveway on my way to Walgreens. At Walgreens I picked up a pregnancy test and headed back home. I took the test at about 8 AM and sure enough it was positive. I cried! I was every emotion you could think of'; happy, excited, and scared to death! Even though I was spending the entire day shopping with my sister, I wanted Ben to be the first to know. It was so hard not to tell my sister all day!! So, I spent the day shopping with my sister and after I dropped her off I went to Target. I picked up a baby bib that says "I LOVE DADDY". I knew that if I just gave Ben the pregnancy test he wouldn't know what it was and surely wouldn't know how to read it. Being the day after Christmas I decided to wrap up the baby bib and the positive pregnancy test and set it under the tree. I went to work out with my friend Sarah (it was hard not to tell her either) and came home to find Ben cooking dinner. I told him that I found another Christmas present that I forgot to give him. I went and got the present from under the tree and gave it to him. Like any other gift, Ben ripped it open! He looked at the bib and looked at me with eyes that looked like they were going to pop out of his head. He said "Are you?" and I said "yes". We hugged and cried for what seemed like forever. It was perfect!

I have my first doctors appointment on January 16, 2008. Since we know so soon it will be a LONG 9 months. Since I havn't been to the doctor yet, we don't know exactly when our Mini Cooper will make his/her debut. Doing the math we think he/she will arrive at the end of August. We look forward to sharing our journey with you and appreciate your prayers throughout this process.
